To Zelda's family and friends:

I had to opportunity, as an Adoptions Specialist, to work with Zelda when she was a supervisor at Kershaw County DSS several years ago.

She was an intelligent, hardworking, and generous person. She was one of the kindest persons I have known. One of her greatest contributions, to the community, was her services for those children and adults who could not speak for themselves.

You are in my thoughts and Zelda is in my heart.

To The Kollock Family,

I lift your family up unto the Lord in this time of grief. I pray the Lord will be to you the comfort that your family needs. And when you have no answers to all the questions 'WHY'. For death leaves a heartache no one can heal. Love leaves memories no MAN can steal. Know GOD is in control and is there by your side. He understands the way you feel and knows the loss you have endured, so place your grief in God's loving hands.

What moves through us is a silence, a quiet sadness, a longing for one more day,
one more word, one more touch, we may not understand why you left this earth so soon,
or why you left before we were ready to say good-bye, but little by little,
we begin to remember not just that you died, but that you lived.
And that your life gave us memories too beautiful to forget.

A Poem for Zelda

God picks a flower
Sometimes God picks a flower that's still in full bloom.
Sometimes the flower that is chosen, we feel He's picked to soon.
We're at peace knowing; in God's heavenly garden,
He has placed the ones we treasure.
You have changed our lives forever.
May your family find comfort and forgiveness by focusing on the goodness you brought to others.

When there is love, any life is too short. Zelda had a way of making the joys of life contagious. Zelda was one of the loveliest women I have ever known. No one who knew her could ever forget her charm and warmth. We spent many pleasant hours together, off the job as well as on and became fast friends. Bereavement is so personal that few of us, unless we have experienced it ourselves, can comprehend its grief. Your sister, Zelda was loved by all of us who worked with her. I hope that our caring will lessen the sorrow that you bear.

Zelda was my supervisor at Gaston Co. DHHS. It has been a distinct privelege to have known Zelda and to have worked under her direct supervision. We all loved her; no unkind word has been spoken of Zelda during her time with us in Gaston County, as she was well respected by all who knew her. I also remember her from S.C. DSS when I worked there, as our paths crossed there from time to time, as she traveled in the performance of her duties. She was a warm, caring lady who became a friend to all she met. She always had a smile on her face and she seemed to have joy in her heart. She seemed to be happy and content with her life as she made plans for her future travels. We will miss her so much. I am grateful to have known her, not just as my supervisor, but as my friend. I send my condolences to her family, of whom she has spoken so fondly, numerous times. May God comfort your hearts and grant you peace in this time of sorrow.

Our short conversations in the elevator will stay with me forever. I know your light will shine in the Health & Human Services Building for years to come.

It is difficult to tell you how deeply I feel about Zelda's untimely death. What started out as a business relationship between Zelda and me quickly became a warm friendship. It was truly a privilege to have known her so well, and I will never forget her laughter, humor, thoughtfulness, and kindness. With great personal sorrow, I ask to share your loss and to extend my heartfelt sympathy.

I have such fond memories of working with and around Zelda. She was so friendly and full of life. Her smile and laugh were contagious. It hurts so much to think of this happening to her. My heart goes out to her family, friends and coworkers. Peace be with all...

Life Stories

To My Dearest Zelda, words cannot express my feelings and emotions during this time. We have shared so much since 1990 until the Angels came and take you away from me. Your presence in my life and my daughter’s life was a gift, which we will always cherish. I want you to know that you are a very special person and Heaven is the place where you will find so much comfort in you eternal life. Rest In Peace my dear friend and know that I loved you like a sister and you will always be India’s Auntie Zelda.

I just remember times with Sherelle Douglas. We were all so young and ambitious. You did well old friend. Take your rest.

Barry and Raymond, My heart goes out to you and the family. My memory of Zelda goes back to Shiloh Baptist Church in Bennettsville where our friendship developed.Zelda had a heart of gold and the biggest smile. Just remember God had plans for her and they are not here on earth. Praying for all of you. GOD is in Control!

To Zelda's family she will be miss a lot,but that beautiful smile she always carry, I won't see it any
more, but it will be in my heart forever. God bless
the Kollock family

Zelda, you were one "bad" lady. You were confident, humble, genuine, humorous, smart, classy and had an impeccable sense of style/fashion. You not only commanded attention upon entering any room, you also set the tone. You were bigger than life and truly embodied the rhetoric "live life to the fullest". I am smiling as I recall the times we shared doing QA Reviews on and off the road. Although you are going to be truly missed, God has called you home so get those angels in line. My prayers are with your family as they grieve the loss of your physical presence. Rest on Zelda, job well done.

I will always remember your smile. A lady with class. Rest in peace.

We will miss seeing Zelda's beautiful smile but will always remember the good times we've shared. May God continue to comfort her family and may Zelda rest in peace.
